Fac Outing!!!

Event: Ares Fac Outing
Venue: The Pines

Fac outing was yesterday, but I was REALLY REALLY too tired to do anything but to faint on my bed. I reached home at 11 plus on Friday and had to wake up at 7 on Sat to go for elections (7 posts in a row my goodness) before rushing off again at 5.30 to The Pines which lasted all the way till 10 plus, and I reached home only at 11plus! Hectic lifesytle! I even lost track of time haha! Thank God for the long weekend!

Shit and I hosted the fac outing! I think we rock la HAHAHA! When we arrived we were already so full of energy and zest half of the people there were quite taken aback. Because they were sitting around chatting casually and then were hit of a sudden by a strong blow of energy as two small things dressed in red started to prance and jump around literally, and shouting at the top of our voices! Actually we were shouting because the mikes were quite bad but also because we were super excited!! And then we pranced around, posing randomly (like seriously randomly) and people actually started taking their cameras out and took photos HAHAHA!!!! Then when Huiyan was performing we started ballet-ing around impromptu (actually the whole emceeing thing was totally inpromptu) and acting out all the words. I think we looked dumb but I had a hell lot of fun!! I think if you drained our energy there would have been enough for a nuclear bomb!!!!!!

Though the program didn't go as according to our wishes:
6-7: Introduction to Shit and my Lifestory
7-7.02 Fac Prince and Princess
7.02-8 Presentation on Shit and my goals in life
8-10 QnA on our life

Wenyi and the rest of the fac comm especially our beloved DADA did a mighty good job!!!!! It was quite a success I think, and though most people were quite shy about coming up and all that they still rushed to the front to support their classmates and everything!!

And I think we terrorised some people. Like how we kept shoving things into Eric's face and forcing him to tell us what everything was, like the whipped cream and bread, the plums and etc, all our exaggeratedness and everything. And how we kept twisiting those J1 guys' shirts and doing the SACO sajiao to force them to go on stage. And they relented HAHAHA! I think the atmosphere really climbed!!!

Like what I always tell Shit it would have been impossible to have been so zi-high without her. I would have felt super self-conscious and disheartened if I didn't have her! And out chemistry is so good we do the same things and everything w/o even communicating, which I think rocks! And of course the role of being a councillor and an emcee of course helps A LOT! And some guy was like "wah how come they have so much energy ar!" and he didn't even know we just sat through 7 hours of elections!!

I hope people weren't like frightened by our zest, which can be quite terrifying sometimes. It's really like a wall of force that rushes towards you, HAHA!!! And there are two of us though We Are One, so we can attack from both sides HAHAHA!!!! SACO rocks!! And we really aren't comm chairs for nothin man!!

YAY! I love Wudada, SACO and ARES!!!!

You know you're a Hwachong nerd if...

You Know You Are a Hwa Chong Nerd if...

1. You know the school better than your own condominium.
2. You spend free afternoons and free periods in the school library.
3. All you can repeat to yourself and your friends is "4As".
4. You haven't been to town for about a month (and above).
5. Your TYS is so torn and used and you can't erase the answers and notes, so you consider buying a second one.
6. You colour code your subjects and notes and place all your books in alphabetical order.
7. You have to dig through piles of notes and books to access your bed and study table everynight.
8. You have all your teachers' numbers and they have yours.
9. Your teacher scolds you and keeps pressing you to buck up even though you have a B for LEP and C for econs.

And finally, you're the Ultimate HwaChong Nerd if:

10. You buy a $10 shoe bag and use it to carry books around.

And I fit all of the above.

32 HCSC

Now that 16th May is drawing near I think my next few posts will all be about council. I remember quite vividly how our seniors were really jaded and quite glad to step down after a year of "sai gang" and council work, but I can really feel that while we are truly tired and bogged down by the immense workload, none of us can truly leave the 32nd and SC as a whole.

It's really amazing how 43 people who are completely unrelated can be elected, with the mandate of the students to form a group of people who will turn out to be so well bonded and such great friends. It's really fate when you hear every single one of our stories, and how we form our 4 committees and seriously become such great friends that we know each other so well, that we know what sizes of clothes and shoes etc everyone wears, their height, their r/ship status, what they like and don't like, how they behave, their personal belongings, weird habits and etc.

Eleco camp was really our final stretch in this amazing journey, besides internal elections and etc, and while everyone's really fatigued, I think it was a great conclusion to our work this past year. Preparation for You-Know-What was especially memorable, and I'm sure the juniors had a great time too, though it really has revealed a lot about everyone. The Spoofing and Crying Session at the end of the camp was especially heart-wrenching, especially when all of us just hugged each other and cried, because it's just so difficult to put 32nd down like that. All the friendships and bonds are just so strong that it's just so painful even to think that we're not gonna see each other every single day anymore.

Every single event has been successful, and every minute spent during worksessions, formals, GMs and events just adds to the very beautiful memories I have of the 32nd.

But of course, I think what makes us different from previous councils is, besides our enthusiasm, never dying energy and vitality, is our Exco. What is so special about our exco is that although they have the authority, they never ever abuse it. It's just a special quality all the exco people share, they never ever emphasise the fact that they're exco memebers and hence mix so comfortably with all of us like as if we're all of the same status. And yet at the same time they're able to balance out their duties, and make sure we understand their point of view etc. It's quite inexplicable, how every single one of us really respects especially Steph, who never ever asserts her authority on us because she understands she is our peer, but yet is able to command enough respect for all of us to obey rules. This is also probably why council is so super bonded, because everyone recognises their own roles, and that everyone is of equal standing, unless you are exco of course, and yet they come down and treat themselves equally.

And of course, it was especially encouraging when our 27th seniors told us that we're truly the best batch they've ever seen ever since they've stepped down, and even drew us a sorta curve to show us how SC has been falling in standard ever since they stepped down, and it's finally risen again in our year. It's heartening to see that the two groups having the most fun are actually the 27ths and us in every event, dancing crazily, laughing and hugging each other, while the others were just chatting politely, so I think we can expect a lot of attendance by the 32nds in future years to come.

Come May 16th, it'll be goodbye to entering the council room every morning, goodbye to all those work sessions, goodbye to all the laughter and tears that we share every single day, goodbye to the other 42 faces who make my life in HC so much brighter.

And yet, I'm pretty sure, goodbye will not be for good, as Jeanray says.

I will make sure we meet enough for me to know their children and grandchildren!!!

I love 32nd!!!

This is quite random but I do like this song. The lyrics rock too but before you ask NO I am not aiming them at anybody. There have been an increasing number of people questioning my lovelife which has eluded me up to this very moment and will probably stay that way in the near future! Which doesn't actually bother me in anyway, but I'm just appalled at the number of people who care! Amazing!

It's been pretty hectic as usual, as the past year has been! And I can feel Eleco drawing closer and closer to the end as we approach our long-awaited Eleco camp! I'm sure it'll be as valuable an experience for me as it will be for the 33rd!!

Sammi's back!! From newspaper reports I thought she'd gone mad but from the few interviews that I managed to see I've concluded that she should be ok. She's eccentric and a little cranky, but nevertheless the same old Sammi that all of us haven't seen in MONTHS! She's still that same old ahmi, a little odd, rough around the edges, walks hunched, speaks frankly and candidly, talks a bit of rubbish, but it's her all right!! My very own Queen! I missed her!!

Haven't been able to spend a lot of time on her though because I'm pretty busy in school. Besides my council duties which I consider to be one of my top priorities I still have school and academics which actually is second to council at this point in time. None of my subjects are up to par yet (i.e. quite certainly an A grade) which means I have a lot of work to do!! Especially for my math!!!! Was discussing with Shit and Karin, am thinking of setting up a SACO study group, but if it doesn't work out will have to think of alternatives. We will ALL get 4As!!!!!! The Goal!!!

33rd Students' Council

The New 33rds were announced yesterday!

To be entirely honest, I was pretty distraught (I think all of us joined in expressing our sorrow in some ways) when some of the elects were, uhm, elected. But like Xun says they deserve a chance cos all of us were doubted in one way or another in the very beginning. If they don't pull HCSC down at least try to remain neutral!!!

Traditional Banner Painting was real fun, and I think the elects will have precious memories from the event, as did I a whole year ago.

Only a few weeks left before we'll step down, before we really go on our separate ways. A few weeks before we never ever step into the council room again, never ever have to stay in school till 10plus pm doing nothing but "shit work", no more camaraderie with my best friends in the school, no more inside jokes. I don't think I can ever be self amusing again with SACO and not have people thinking I'm weird!! Never will there be another group who will know you so well they can identify each other's shoes, clothes, skirts, blouses and other personal belongings! I think I'll feel so empty I wouldn't know what to do. Perhaps SACO will form a study group, and I'm pretty sure that SACO will last way beyond the ages, so it's fine. But when will it be again before the 32nd comes together again? Perhaps once a year?

I can't wait for Investiture, because it signifies the end of a phase in my life. But I'm not looking forward to it either, because it means so many endings as well, endings of my happiest period in HC.

A few weeks more to 16th May. Let's treasure our time together!

If You are a Councillor

You know you are a part of the 32nd HCSC if:
1. You tuck in your shirt/blouse. Or actually pretend you do.
2. You know very, very, very, VERY VERY well that "money does not drop from the sky".
3. You cannot recognise your home in the day.
4. You have more than 5 sets of PE attire.
5. You know the steps to the mass dances, words to the school songs and school cheers better than anyone in the school.
6. The amount of time you spend with your family is N minutes where N is the number of hours you spend with council.
7. You think sweaty guys and girls smell familar.
8. You start panicking and break into cold sweat when Steph says "comm secs take attendance" and half your comm isn't here yet.
9. You know what Jamie looks like when she's asleep.
10. The most useful skill you have learn during you term so far is to "self-amuse".

And you know, best of all, if you're part of 32nd HCSC:
11. That council
ROCKS!!!!
